Jeannette of Nazareth a New Ambassador of Peace

LYON, Aug. 2 - A little rain and cooler weather makes us feel at ease after some long weeks of draft. Jeannette is warm welcoming everybody coming.

Everyone is touch by her smile and her simplicity. With some she speaks Arabic, with other in English, with a strong Quebec accent, which shows that she have been away from her homeland for long time.

The evening start with some warm and moving words from Father Regis, the priest from Vault-en-Velin, followed by a prayer in Aramean by Father Anice from the community Syro-chaldean and Aramean of Lyon. Then Doudou Sy Savane, a Senegalese marabout, prays in Arabic with few verses from the Qumran.

Scriptures from the reconciliation of Jacob and Esau, excerpts from the Torah, scriptures of tolerance from the Qumran, the writings of the Love of the Enemies from the New Testament, another writing of Saint Augustin about Peace, and a text of the United Nation inaugural assembly in 2001, set the tune for the evening, and welcome heartedly Jeannette of Nazareth.

Jeannette presented some sketches play, before starting to sing and dance. She cared to invite the children to join her, and requested the crowd to join her, as Peace is everyone affaire, and together we are building it. Eric, her friend, play many roles, as God, a father, a technician, and a filmmaker, and much more.

A rear screening in the background make us understand the history of the Palestinian people, and of their children. Jeannette de Nazareth, the lost child, often sing in playback and alternate between Arabic, Hebrew, English and French. As the pictures in the background bring rumors of war and misery, she delivers her message of peace and reconciliation.

That evening, this church of Vaulx-en-Velin brought together Jews and Muslim brothers, as well as Protestants and other Christian’s denominations, in the same heart of feeling and sharing.

After a two hours performance, Jeannette thanks and offer gifts to the organizers. Then, Jeannette received flowers and a big birthday cake, followed by the honorific title of Ambassador of Peace from the Inter-religious Council and International Peace, handed with Madame Adine Rouveure.

The distinction was also given to Monsieur and Madame Haond, organizer of “Mouvement de la Paix” in Lyon since 40 years, especially involved to help Middle-East war’s victims. Monsieur Doudou Sy Savane also was also honored for his numerous years involved to build the Peace in Casamance, by the hands of Monsieur José Katalay former director from the Congo Red Cross.

Leaving the room the guests could share Jeannette birthday cake, and cheered to Peace. It was another chance to share some words with Jeannette.

Thanks to many the participants for that evening, and specially the Aramean community, several association directors, priests, pastors, imams and nuns.

This Inter-religious and multicultural gathering is a chance for Peace, and will contribute to this process in the holy land.
